Die European Piano Teachers Association wurde 1978 von Carola Grindea in England gegründet. In den vergangenen Jahrzehnten sind fast in allen europäischen Ländern Sektionen hinzugekommen. Die deutsche Sektion der EPTA, gegründet 1979, führt jährlich einen Kongress. Durch Künstlerische und wissenschaftliche Fragen werden dargestellt, diskutiert und praktisch erprobt.
